Biography

Charmane M. Vaianisi was born a third-generation native of San Jose, California--her grandfather born in a small farmhouse just a couple of blocks west of Monterey Highway and Curtner Avenue (this farmland long ago buried beneath concrete and suburbs). She has resided in Norman, Oklahoma since 1999.

Charmane has been spinning her own melodies since... well... forever--aware of the melodies being original since about 1976. She also loved to write "singing words;" some of her childhood poetry was published in _Teaching Writing in K-8 Classrooms: The Time has Come_, by Iris M. Tiedt (Prentice-Hall, 1983).

Charmane entered San Jose State University in 1990 as an English major, but impulsively followed a little voice that told her this was going to be her last chance to study for a degree in music composition (which, to date, it was). As things turned out, she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Creative Arts, which included an emphasis in Music and a sub-emphasis in English Language Arts.

Since those years, Charmane has worked as an administrative assistant, a culinary consultant to a vegan restaurant, a tutor, a substitute teacher, and a homeschooling parent. Time is forever crunched, but finished works do eventually happen. She has completed vegetarian cookbooks, articles for a couple of small natural parenting magazines, a bit of what is sometimes called "fan fiction," and a half dozen notated songs and musical compositions.
